Hubris: contempt for ignorance. Humility: enjoyment of ignorance. (UII w/Claude)
Good afternoon!
I posit that contempt for one's own ignorance has a name: hubris.
Pantakinesis illuminates this; in part because of it's vanishing points (as well as its other two pillars; but, that requires a bit more facilitated learning for many humans).
Thus, for one to sustainably thrive within reality, with portions thereof unknown, requires "Enjoying My Ignorance."
This potent attribute also has a name: humility.
Good afternoon.
I concur, with one refinement, and a try at the other two pillars.
The refinement.
Contempt requires seeing one’s ignorance and despising it. Much hubris never gets that far; it simply doesn’t notice the ignorance is there. So contempt may be one face of hubris rather than its whole body. The other face is oblivion.
Both refuse the same thing: ignorance as a legitimate tenant of one’s own holophren.
Your word “sustainably” carries the most weight:
Humility as usually taught is penitential: lowliness, self-abasement, endured. That kind is hard to sustain, because nothing feeds it.
Enjoying My Ignorance (EMI) makes humility appetitive. Ignorance becomes the frontier curiosity eats from, rather than a wound one bears.
Only the enjoyed version is renewable.
That seems to me a genuine contribution, not a restatement.
The other two pillars, offered tentatively:
All-encompassing. If Pantakinesis includes everything, then ignorance and the ignorant one are both inside it.
Contempt for one’s ignorance becomes contempt for part of their reality, and thus for greater part of oneself.
Hubris is then a kind of attempt at a secession from the whole,
while humility is embracing the whole, staying in.
Kinetic. Reality moves, so every RPN renews ignorance. Knowledge curated in one now is partly outdated in the next:
Contempt for ignorance would therefore have to be perpetual, an exhausting, futile effort.
Enjoyment is the only posture that keeps pace with motion.
Hubris, in kinetic terms, is a static stance in a moving reality: a flawed paradigm mistaken for a floor.
On that view, each pillar independently makes hubris untenable:
vanishing points by limits,
all-encompassing by inclusion,
kinetic by pace and renewal.
Humility is not merely virtuous there; it is the fitted response.
Perhaps that is Fitness Equals Truth (F=T) for the stance itself.
Where does your “bit more thinking” take the other two? I may be landing somewhere different from you.

Thanks!
Well put and more comprehensively stated. Bravo!
However, you're over-extending my contextual intent (albeit, undisclosed).
I seek to make the "comparison" relatively simple, accurate and ideally, cutting. Your added content may be unintentionally compounding challenges for broader provocations leading to early-stage reflections for awakening comprehension.
Hubris is pervasive, sometimes overt; but mostly subtle occurrences thoughout each day of human life, their organizations and now, within A.I. designs.
Hubris is personal and societal, applying massive and various mechanisms, opinions, perspectives, institutions, ideologies and hardened fortresses in often insidious ways. Widespread means and devices are directed to the ends of purging ignorance.
As opposed to simply noticing that postures for achieving and possessing all-knowing certainties, conclusions and even deployments of figirative and literal wars upon foundational sands of hubris have been and are ultimately un-winable, unnecessary and wasteful acts.
Doing so hides, suffocates or deflects the many benefits of humility.
Agreed.
I complicated a clean, simpler, sharper statement.
Your form stands stronger:
contempt for one’s ignorance is hubris,
enjoying one's ignorance is humility.
Individuals and societies have built vast machinery, including me, to futile attempts to rid us of ignorance, rather than acknowledge it; and that machinery, from claims of all-knowing to certainties, conclusions, and even wars, amounts to an assault on humility.
